Our family has a significant background in architecture, so we had a number of ideas about our future home. In fact, we supplied Russ with plans. In a nutshell, we wanted a home with the appearance of a center hall colonial, out of respect for our surroundings, but adapted to an open floor plan. Russ studied our plans, discussed how we would use each room in the home and listened to us. In the end he was a guide to nearly everything we did, helping us create a home with an exterior true to it's period but with altogether modern functionality.

Before actual construction, we toured other homes Russ has built. We were immediately at ease with him and struck by the friendships he seemed to have with his clients. His employees only reinforced this impression. They are a great bunch, as pleasant and patient as can be.

Perhaps most striking (at least to us, coming from Philadelphia) was the informality of business relations with Russ. Everything was done with a handshake and a promise. Changes, many of them significant, were dealt with simply, without change orders or paperwork of any kind. In fact, we significantly changed the size of the house, keeping it in line with the original plan, and Russ repriced it for us. As simply as that.
