This is the second home that my wife Jayne and I have built for ourselves,
so we knew the drill: any builder you choose is going to be a huge part of
your life for the next year. Therefore, it was critical for us to find
someone whom we trusted and felt comfortable letting into our lives. With
Russ we felt an instant, gut-level trust, which was validated as soon as we
began working with him.

Since I work in the real estate field, I was aware of the different ways
contractors do business. I knew that I didn't want a contractor with a lot
of employees and huge overhead that has to get passed on to clients. Russ
subcontracted everything but the finish work, which was exactly the business
model I was looking for. Quality, both in infrastructure and finish work, is
very important to me. But there aren't many carpenters who have an eye for
interior detail or the craftsmanship to complete it properly. It was
apparent from touring his homes that Russ and his team of finish carpenters
were at the top of their game.

Jayne and I came to Russ with a complete exterior concept and worked closely
with him and his team to create a final building plan, including the
necessary interior detail. He had a lot of great ideas but he's also very
collaborative and was willing to listen to the new stuff we threw at him. We
had a great dialogue throughout the project and as a result the house is
everything we hoped for.

Russ is very loyal to his employees and subcontractors, and you can see that
loyalty reflected in every one of his homes. It's the quality and
consistency that only comes from a really solid team. We especially
appreciated the involvement of Russ' right hand man, Tim Fecteau. Tim became
our day-to-day, go-to person. He's a phenomenal scheduler and project
manager. When you're building a house, a portion of your life is on hold-at
best. Tim made sure that the project was always moving ahead. He makes these
long to-do lists-and it all gets done. We actually moved into our house on
time. When you're building a home, that's almost unheard of.
