Our move to Maine was unexpected. We had just finished building a custom home in Massachusetts less than a year prior to coming here. Based on that experience, I wasn't thrilled about going through the process again. But Russ Doucette and his crew gave me new faith in builders. The difference was like night and day. He was so easy to deal with-personable, and reliable. But if I had to choose one word to describe Russ it would be accommodating.

He had a lot of good ideas and added a number of distinctive touches to our house. But he respected my ideas too. I looked through hundreds of decorating magazines. One of the great things about Russ was that I could show him a picture and say, 'I want that' and I'd get it. Exactly what I asked for without needing to explain a thing.

My bathroom, for instance. I showed him a picture of this huge shower with a curved, 3/4 wall and he built it. We did the whole thing in blue and green mosaic tile. It's like a spa. It's my favorite room in the house.

I wasn't liking any of the bricks he showed me for the fireplace in the family room, so we kept looking until we found some antique brick from an old mill. It was just right. I told him I wanted something old for the mantel too and Russ took me to a salvage yard where I found the perfect beam.

Our job just went incredibly smoothly. Russ's crew are like an extension of him. They were always friendly and respectful. Every day they swept up. We didn't find so much as a nail after we moved in. At our Massachusetts house we picked up over 600 nails.

Russ continues to be there for us if we need him. We had a leaking pipe in the bathroom and I couldn't turn the water off. I called Russ at 9:00 pm and he came right over with a plumber. Not only did they get the water turned off. They identified the problem, went to get parts, and insisted on returning that night to fix it. That's Russ all over. He goes above and beyond.
